This is not a review of The Dark Knight. However, considering the film isn’t even in theaters yet, it might come as a surprise to hear so much profound praise, but I can’t help from sharing my feelings on this absolute masterpiece. In fact, I’ve decided to move beyond calling it a masterpiece to calling it potentially a cinematic revolution. Not since Lord of the Rings: Return of the King five years ago in December of 2003, did I walk out of the theater so moved, so amazed, and so extraordinarily impacted by the movie I had just watched. Instead of reviewing this film and its many brilliant elements, I must explain why it truly is a flawless masterpiece that the world will experience together on July 18th. Don’t necessarily change any of your expectations, but be prepared for an unforgettable theatrical experience.

Producer Frank Marshall revealed plans to begin shooting a fourth Jason Bourne movie next Summer, for release in 2010. Universal announced the project back in February, with director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon set to return. Marshall also confirmed that they will probably be creating an original story for the fourth film.

What phone to buy after the e61i?

my Nokia e61i is great but it is aging, it started to forget and man it is getting slower by the minute . so there are few options i am considering;

1- Nokia e71i

the new version is rumored to be out soon but the question is how different it is going to be? i want more features and i want more SPEED i had this problem before where it is wasn’t functioning well with speed.

and one stupid thing i faced was when i had like 1500 sms messages on the phone, it really used to take 30 to 40 seconds to go from one function to the other!! i guess such a high end phone aint supposed to be slow when clicking on the contacts button!!!

2- XPERIA

well, i worked on the Ericsson before and it was different. i think i just have to try to think differently when it comes to using the device. people say it is more stable and easier to use. the problem is a Sony can’t talk properly with a Nokia. for example, when you send a businesscard from Sony, Nokia can not read it and vise versa which is annoying. these small things add up and here in the gulf you are one among 100 who uses a Sony.

3- Palm Centro

the only thing i know about this phone is it is popular for its simplicity and i heard good reviews on Buzz Out Loud.

4- iPhone 3G

well i am waiting like crazy for this one and it finally out, well not really, i have to wait till July 11th. MS Exchange is one great feature that was missing and many other are there now. Price also has dropped down at least in the states now, will see how much the iCity will sell it for. i believe for such devices you have to wait and see the public reaction and review for it before blowing your savings. one big drawback in the old one was not being able to sync wirelessly to update the iTunes playlist along with the Podcast list. i am not sure if this feature is not available on the new iPhone or not.

with the iPhone i don’t have to curry two devices no more and thats just GREAT.

5- HTC diamond

one crazy thing i know about this one is that it scans business cards and that is amazing; being in meetings all day long and exchanging business cards 5 times a day; i think this feature is nuts. other than that; i know this phone runs on windows mobile and i hated it when i had the O2. the software is just clunky and very hard to use and i know many people would disagree with me on this. But for a person who does a phone call in two steps, it is hard to do the same in 6 steps!!!

anyway i will read the reviews and will see.

the bottom line is: I WILL WAIT TILL ALL OF THEM ARE OUT AND READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD

The hotel part will be managed by Millennium Hotels and will be classified as a 4 four star, similar to the next door Courtyard Hotel in Al Rayya. no further announcements have been made yet so far but news press about another Millennium property to be opened in Kuwait by 2008 and to be titled “The Al Jahrah Copthorne Hotel & Resort”. it is 30km to the north of Kuwait City, The four-star hotel - managed by Millennium Hotels and Resorts - will boast two large conference rooms of 200m² and 400m² and two smaller boardrooms kitted out with state-of-the-art technology.

Tech Review: Digsby

While listening to the Buzz Out Loud podcast there was a mention of the Digsby software which made me download it. The software is still in beta version and requires an invitation. Deera Chat got 500 special invitations where you can download the software by going to http://www.digsby.com/ and type in “deera” in the invitation code for authorization.

Anyway the software is reallllllly cool where you can connect to all you AIM softwares (msn, yahoo, AIM, etc) and also connect to your social networks as well (facebook and myspace) where you get to see all the activities happening with your profile within one cool window.

the software is worth checking out and we have been using it and no problems so far.

We found a very interesting article that goes through the history of the Master planning phases of Kuwait City. Did you know that the first master plan for Kuwait City was in 1952 which laid down essential principles that are still being followed to our current day. The second version of the Kuwait Master Plan was stopped by the Iraqui occupation (as was the KUDAMS project), but in 1992 a wholly new Third Kuwait Master Plan (3KMP) was prepared. This plan was completed around 1997.

before you start a new business in Kuwait you have to take a look at the World Bank’s doing business report on Kuwait (thats if you don’t have was6a of course). the site has a cool Google maps embedded in the site showing you the whole world and a snapshot of each country with a summary of where they stand in the global economy. The report states that there is 0 hiring difficulty in the country! we also we back 15 points in trading across borders compared to 2006(i think it is because development in Iraq was slowed down because of the inner problems). Anyway the report is really nice to look at to have a better understanding how the World Bank sees our economy.

on the 29th of December 2007, Alqabas stated some striking facts on the hotel occupancy rates in Kuwait during Christmas and Eid Al Atha holidays which were 30% compared to 96% in Saudi, 90% in Bahrain, 86% in UAE, 72% in Oman, and 65% in Qatar. the recentlly announced “updated” Kuwait airways website (www.kuwait-airways.com) has rolled out an amazing update which is an error front page message!! the site has been like this since yesterday and hopefully it will be fixed by the time you read this post. Ayway the updates mentioned in AlRai paper on the 2nd of January were almost all available already on the site!!!

it is sad how bad our national airlines turned.

Will Ferrell did an amazing job acting this movie. it was his third movie after Old School which was his breakthrough even though he’s been in the biz for a while. The movie was released in 2003 during Christmas time. It is a light movie, perfect for family gatherings specially during this time and it will give you and your family a good laugh. London-based landscape architectural practice Scape Design Associates has announced the approval of its concept design for Kuwait’s largest public park built on one of the most expensive land plot for sale in Kuwait and associated Mall of Kuwait, in collaboration with architect Eric Kuhne & Associates.

The park and Mall, with its striking architecture, will comprise numerous retail, recreational and leisure facilities amid a series of contemporary gardens, ornamental brackish lakes, promenades and water features, setting it apart from any other shopping destination.

Situated within a staggering 361,000m2 of parkland (over twice the size of Bluewater shopping centre and its landscape) and featuring more than 7000 indigenous palm and shade trees, the landscape carefully plays on the relationship between Islamic and native desert themes. According to Al Qabas on the 10th of December, Kuwait Transport ion comity has just approved the plans for Kuwait City metro, below. who will be targeted for this metro? who will use it? are the stops and services shown are efficient? will it solve the congestion problems we currently have? is it going to be another bad investment without study? we touched on these questions this week and we hope the best will come as long as the proper work is being done to get things better in our beloved Kuwait.
